James, Parker tabbed NBA Players of the Month

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Miami Heat star LeBron James garnered his third consecutive Eastern Conference Player of the Month award on Friday, with San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker taking home Western Conference honors for games played in January.

James repeated the distinction after ranking second among East players in scoring (27.0 ppg), third in field goal percentage (55.5), fourth in steals (1.92/gm.) and fifth in assists (7.2 apg) for the month. The reigning league MVP netted at least 20 points in all 12 January games while scoring 30 or more seven times.

Parker averaged 21.9 points, 7.9 assists and shot 56.3 percent from the field in leading the Spurs to a 12-3 record in January. The All-Star guard amassed 20 points or more 12 times and notched five double-doubles (points-assists) during the month.

Others nominated include Brooklyn's Brook Lopez, Chicago's Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah, Cleveland's Kyrie Irving, Denver's Danilo Gallinari, Houston's James Harden, New York's Carmelo Anthony, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, Portland's LaMarcus Aldridge and Washington's Emeka Okafor.
