Recap: St. Louis vs. Miami
Jupiter, FL (Sports Network) - Matt Carpenter's two-run double in the fifth inning helped support four shutout frames from Shelby Miller, and the St. Louis Cardinals held on for a 5-4 victory over the Miami Marlins at Roger Dean Stadium.
Matt Craig added a solo homer for St. Louis, with Daniel Descalso finishing 2- for-4 with a run scored in the victory. Miller held the Marlins to just one hit while striking out three with one walk.
Miami faced a 5-0 deficit after six innings before scoring four times in the top of the seventh, highlighted by Placido Polanco's two-run single.
Marlins starter Jacob Turner worked five innings, surrendering four runs on seven hits.
