Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - The Seattle Mariners have acquired infielder Robert Andino from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for outfielder Trayvon Robinson.
Andino appeared in 127 games with the O's last season, compiling a .211 average with 13 doubles, seven home runs and 28 runs batted in.
A second-round pick of the Marlins in the 2002 amateur draft, the 28-year-old Florida native owns a career .235 average with 18 homers and 92 RBI in 439 games over eight seasons with the Marlins and Orioles.
"The addition of Robert Andino gives us some experienced infield depth with a player who has played multiple positions," Mariners general manager of baseball operations Jack Zduriencik said in a statement. "With Robert having Major League and playoff experience and still relatively young, we thought that it made sense to make this trade and let him come in and compete."
Robinson, 25, batted .221 with three homers and 12 RBI in 46 games last season with Seattle.
"We thank Trayvon for his contributions and wish him the best of luck with the Baltimore Orioles," added Zduriencik.
