Pasadena, CA (Sports Network) - USC lost its rivalry game against UCLA on Saturday and may have lost its starting quarterback as well.

Matt Barkley, USC's golden-armed QB, was hit hard by UCLA's Anthony Barr late in the fourth quarter and walked to the sideline holding his shoulder. He did not return the next series, and Los Angeles Times writer Scott Wolf tweeted the senior may have a separated shoulder.

Barkley completed 20-of-38 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns but threw two interceptions in the 38-28 loss, the fourth of the year for the preseason No. 1.

The Trojans, who can not play for the Pac-12 title, host their final game of the season next Saturday against Notre Dame, the only undefeated team remaining eligible to play for a national championship.
