Recap: Georgia vs. Youngstown St
Athens, GA (Sports Network) - Kendrick Perry scored 23 points for Youngstown State as they visited the Georgia Bulldogs at the Stegeman Coliseum and emerged victorious, 68-56.
Perry was 10-of-11 at the free throw line while adding six rebounds, five assists, and four steals for the Penguins (2-0). Damian Eargle recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while also posting three blocked shots. Kamren Belin added 17 points and six rebounds.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored a game-high 27 points while knocking down five three-pointers, pulling down six rebounds and registering four steals for the Bulldogs (1-1).
YSU started the game with an 8-0 run, en route to a 25-14 lead at the break. The hosts shot a mere 3-of-24 from the floor in the frame, including 1-of-7 behind the three-point line.
Georgia was much more accurate in the second half, knocking down 48.3 percent from the field and 5-of-9 on the perimeter, but it was too little, too late in the 12-point decision.
The Penguins scored the first points of the contest and never looked back, surviving 17 turnovers in the process.
