DOWNEY, Calif. (AP) — Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver whose victim was killed after being dragged some 300 yards in a Los Angeles suburb.
Downey police Sgt. Alex Irizabal says officers responded to a report of a fight outside a local bar around 12:30 a.m. Monday. They found a 35-year-old Buena Park man dead in traffic lanes. His name wasn't released.
The sergeant says witnesses reported that a man who apparently had been involved in the fight struck the man in the parking lot and dragged him before fleeing.
The sergeant says it's unclear whether the dead man was involved in the fight and investigators don't know whether he was struck deliberately.
Downey is 20 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
