A long-time Fresno sports destination is closing.

For 14 years, the World of Baseball has operated at Fresno and Shaw with indoor batting cages, baseball gear and more.

The owner is moving and was not able to find a buyer for the business, so the shop is closing at the end of the month.

Owner Jeff Johnson says a lot of young players refined their skills here. "A lot of our alumni are playing professional ball. A lot of our employees worked here as high school kids. A lot of the kids came through with their dads and their moms, they're playing high school, playing major college baseball."

World of Baseball will start tearing out the cages the week of the 24th and will offer bargain deals on baseball gear.

This type of story is sad. these business call you up and tell you they are going out of business but use it only to get more business and are not closing its doors. According to your article and the interview they would be tearing the place down. things are still in order. no real discounts you can get things cheaper at the name brand stores at regular price. you see furniture stores do this and others. shamful!
