There is a book signing on Saturday for a book written by a Valley native and World War II combat vet, that talks about the Central Valley during the war.

The book is titled "Into the Night" and the author, George F. Gunner, will be signing copies of the book 2-4:00 p.m. at A Book Barn, located at 640 Clovis Avenue in Clovis.

The book talks about Hammer Field, which is today's Fresno Yosemite International Airport, as well as Camp Pinedale and the Fresno Fairgrounds. Because of the military use of these three facilities, the population nearly doubled in peacetime.
