A gunman is at large and a woman hospitalized after a shooting at a Fresno mall.

It happened around 7:30 tonight at Manchester Center at Blackstone and Shields.

The shooting happened at Colima’s barber shop.

Witnesses said the gunman and a barber were arguing right before the shooting.

An ambulance took the victim of the shooting to the hospital.

Chantal Strickling says her aunt is the woman who was shot.

She was notified by the victim’s daughter.

“I got a text first that said her mom had got shot,” Strickling said.

Chantal wasn’t sure the message was accurate.

“I called her and she said her mom was shot and she was ready to go home and she was at Manchester,” Strickling said.

Police say the woman was inside the barber shop and was an innocent bystander - hit by the gunfire.

“There appeared to be a verbal argument prior to the shooting with the barber. And the victim was the unintended victim. She was shot as the suspect was trying to shoot at the barber,” said Lt. Jose Garza with the Fresno Police Department.

Investigators are talking to witnesses and checking security cameras. Only a few stores were open and patrons were asked to stay in the mall. The mall was closed down for the night.

The gunman ran out the south doors of the mall where the carousel is located.

He is described as an African-American man with a slim build and is considered armed and dangerous.

If you have any information on the case, you’re asked to contact Fresno Police at (559) 621-7000.
