Social media; it's the new way of interacting with each other and getting information on the most talked about topic at the moment.

"I love twitter, I get on it everyday," said Justin Johnson said.

"That's how we find out most of the drama daily," Kelsey Koster said.

Part of the drama is the bizarre unfolding story involving Manti Te'o, but is Te'o a victim or a co-conspirator?

"Could have been a publicity stunt, but some people are cruel, but you never know he could have been a victim," Scott Zedd said.

"I'm sure he had something to do with it," Kelsey Koster said.

Some people believe it worked to his advantage.

"I didn't even know who he was until after Ii heard about his grandma and girlfriend dying," Johnson said.

Experts say what people post on social websites says a lot about their personality.

"Social media is the new public forum," Sherry Walling said.

Psychologist Sherry Walling says those who go to the lengths of creating a fictional person usually do it to fill a certain void in their life.

"Some people do work them out in fantasy. Some people do create an imaginary world," Walling said.

She says it's okay to use social media to express your opinion, but be mindful of what you post.

"Social media can be distorted, and once it starts, it can't be undone," said Walling.

If you're worried of being a vicitm of a hoax experts say doing a search on someone's name can help.

"If you enter someone's name on Google and nothing comes up, that's odd this day and age," Walling said.
