Officers are warning folks to be on the alert for fake cops targeting Valley homeowners.

In the last few weeks, there have been three burglaries and robberies where the victims say the fake cops look and sound real, but are not.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Department says be on the lookout. Deputy Chris Curtice said, "Every officer or deputy should be carrying their department issued ID. Don't be afraid to ask for it; we don't get offended by it."

Deputy Curtice says if an officer does not have an ID, call the appropriate agency and check.

You should also call 911 if you believe a fake cop is attempting to enter your home.
