A Merced soldier has died in Iraq. Private First Class Lukas C. Hopper died Friday of injuries sustained during a vehicle rollover.
Hopper was 20-years-old and attended Golden Valley High School in Merced. He was based out of Ft. Bragg N.C. and was a member of the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division and was serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom in Karadah, southeast of Iraq.
