Thousands of votes to be counted Friday in what some are calling a historic election.
Official ballot counts of more than 10,000 Fresno homecare providers are expected to be counted following months of campaigning from workers.
Healthcare workers voted whether they wanted to stay with the labor union, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) United Healthcare Workers West, or join another union.
According to the organization, Fresno County homecare providers have been organizing with the National Union of Healthcare Workers in attempts to abscond from the SEIU.
Because of California’s budget crisis, home care workers could lose their jobs if they lose funding.
