A Fresno man is in custody for stabbing three people, including a police officer. The officer and a woman in her 20s were taken to CRMC with several wounds. A woman in her 40s was killed.

Around 5:30 Monday morning, a woman called 911 and said a man had stabbed her and that her roommate was dying. When police got to their apartment near Van Ness and McKinley, a man ran into the alley and struggled with an officer. Chief Jerry Dyer says the man then stabbed the officer in the back of the neck. Other officers helped chased down the suspect, using a Taser at one point.

Chief Dyer says the suspect lives nearby and has an extensive criminal record. No word yet on his relationship to the victims or a motive in the attack.

Streets around Fresno City College are now back open, but commuters may need extra time to reach the campus.
