Family and friends are grieving after two teenagers were killed while driving on a rural road in Madera County.

The accident happened Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Road 9 and Avenue 23 ½ in Chowchilla.

The driver of the car failed to stop at the stop sign and hit a PG&E service truck.

The car burst into flames and the driver and one of the passengers, thought to be 17 or 18-years-old were killed.

The lone survivor of the crash, also thought to be 17 or 18-years-old, was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

Emergency workers tell the Madera Tribune he suffered burns to 50 to 70% of his body.

Reports say the young men live in the area and may have been Chowchilla High School students.
