Sheriff’s Deputies say James Badasci shot and killed a fellow employee at the Fresno Equipment Company near Chestnut and Highway 99 Tuesday morning, before taking his own life.

The shooting happened on South Bagley near Malaga around 9:00 AM in Fresno County.

Employees heard the shots fired and ran for cover and called 911 for help.

Deputies arrived at the scene within 6 minutes and surrounded the facility before entering the rear of the business. Once inside, they found two men dead from gunshot wounds.

Other workers who were still inside the building were locked away in a safe area. Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims said, “One thing that happened that was a very wise move by the employees; there’s some kind of vault inside this building and they found refuge inside this vault to keep themselves safe from the shooter.”

Sheriff Mims says the shooting was a case of workplace violence and they don’t know if the victim was targeted or what the motive was.

There were about ten employees at the Fresno Equipment Company when the shooting took place but none of the other employees were injured.
