Hundreds of drivers lined up at the Fresno Fairgrounds today in an effort to clean up our air.

It was part of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District's "Tune In and Tune Up" event.

Vehicles underwent emissions tests for free.

Drivers who did not pass were given a voucher worth $500 to be used toward smog repairs.

"I defeinitly know it's going to fail and it's more than i can afford. That's why I came out here to get the voucher," said Romero Hernandez.

More of these events are scheduled to happen in the valley over the next few months.

Cities include: Merced, Porterville, Chowchilla and Hanford. A maximum of 525 vehicles will be tested and it's first come, first serve.

This event was a waist of my time. More than half of the cars didn’t even get the voucher. My car passed their emissions test so I didn’t get a voucher, but I had a failed test done in April and I had the paper work to prove it but the gentleman said it had to be within the last 90 days. If I knew this I would of got a pretest done the day before and not waist my time sitting at the fairgrounds for nothing. Towards the end of the day the workers were very rude and disorganized. I seen workers arguing with their bosses I had to track down my registration because it was time for me to go through the station. Next one they have they need to make sure they put in fine print somewhere that there emissions testing is not ass sensitive like as a regular smog station
