Residents in Madera are getting a new company for their solid waste service and their former company is being sued.

The announcement was made Tuesday after a grand jury report detailed widespread financial mismanagement by Waste Connections Incorporated.

The county is filing a lawsuit, claiming it was overcharged by more than $2 million.

County leaders have signed an agreement with a new service provider.

Red Rock Environmental will officially begin serving the County of Madera on November 1st.

County supervisors say they had to move quickly on a new deal to avoid disruptions in service.
