Local teens are being urged to never text and drive.

Fresno police teamed up with AT&T to talk with students at Fresno High School about the dangers of texting and driving.

Teenage drivers are at highest risk of getting into accidents because they're not paying attention to the road.

Student Body President, Makayla Quinn said, "It's causing more and more deaths every year and it's starting with the teenagers and we have a growing problem especially because we text more than adults."

John Belli with the Fresno Police Department said, "The younger drivers - there's been statistics that have shown the younger driver has really been in danger of using texting and driving. They're newer drivers, they're not really acclimated to driving in different situations."

Students are encouraged to take a no-texting pledge and share their promise with others on Facebook and Twitter.
