A man already in the Fresno County Jail is facing more charges after an attack inside a courtroom.
23-year-old Juan Hernandez is accused of stabbing one of his co-defendants Thursday morning.
It happened in court during jury selection. Hernandez and two other men are facing charges in a Reedley murder case that happened two years ago.
Nearly 100 people were in the courtroom at the time.
The sheriff's department is trying to figure out how the inmate was able to smuggle a weapon inside the courtroom.
Deputy Chris Curtice with the Fresno County Sheriff's Department said, "We have an idea right now, but it's not something I really want to give out over the air. I don't want to compromise any kind of security or give anybody any ideas but that's something the detectives will also look into, and if there's any lapses anywhere, we'll take care of it.
Three deputies immediately pounced on Hernandez. The victim is expected to survive.
