Fresno police hope some surveillance photos will help them crack a theft case.

The suspect was ripping off surveillance cameras when one of them snapped his picture, and that could make an arrest a whole lot easier.

The crime happened at the Surf-Thru Express Car Wash at First Street near Ashlan Avenue in Fresno.

The crook used a ladder to climb on the roof of the car wash.

Sgt. Eric Hodge with he Fresno Police Department said, "The suspect had gone up and taken two video cameras right off the roof area of the car wash , thereby providing us with a nice face shot of him taking the cameras."

The car wash owner says each camera is worth about $700 but he is grateful for the holiday snap shot that could land the crook behind bars. "Luckily the criminal was kind enough to leave a good picture of his face and all the things he did that night," said owner Todd Gall.

Police think the thief is ripping off the cameras and trying to sell them to other businesses, which could help them find the crook.

Anyone who recognizes the thief or has information about the theft is asked to call the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-6436.
