Police say the 17-year-old girl had been selling the marijuana candy at school for more than a week.

"You never expect it to happen at your own school. You know it goes around," said Nanika Bhangoo, junior student at Clovis North High School.

Bhangoo tells us she heard the news when it was addressed in the classroom.

"Teachers are telling us that we need to be careful and that this is really not acceptable," said Bhangoo.

It all began when Clovis Police got a call from the Clovis Unified Police Department around 11:30 Tuesday morning.

"Officers went out there to Clovis North and met with them and ultimately arrested a 17-yr-old girl for possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sales," said Janet Stoll-Lee from the Clovis Police Department.

They say the student was selling the marijuana candy for a week and a half starting at 5 dollars, and other students were involved.

"Kids are smart. They know how to do this and I mean they know how to do things discretely," said Shannon Davis, a parent of an 8th grade student at Granite Ridge in Clovis.

Police are still trying to determine if the teen bought or made the candy at home. They're also investigating how many students may have purchased or consumed the candy.

"I know that this kind of stuff happens but it's just good to know that it's happening at our campus," said Susan Fraizer, a Clovis North High parent.

Most parents we spoke with believe knowledge and communication is key.

"It's sad that stuff like this does go on, but it's the way it is nowadays and you just have to educate your kids on it," said Davis.

Only one arrest was made. Punishment for the other students involved will be handled by the school district.
Police say they could have an update by the end of the week.
