Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin hosted the State of Downtown breakfast Tuesday morning.
The mayor talked to business and city leaders about what's being done to help revitalize downtown Fresno.
The goal is to make downtown a place people want to eat, work and live.
The mayor says a lot was accomplished last year and this year, the focus is on business development, marketing, parking and homelessness, along with fixing Fulton Mall.
Mayor Swearengin said, “The work that we are doing reflects the work of literally hundreds, if not thousands of people, who have been involved with the Fulton corridor specific plan putting their ideas on the table. These really are not my ideas; it’s just what we stitched together based on the input by the community. We’ve got 3 options we’re evaluating for the future of the mall.”
Tuesday morning’s breakfast was held at the old Security Bank Building, which has a new owner, an investor from Los Angeles. The mayor says she thinks others will follow and invest in the future of downtown.
