Ashley Swearengin was the keynote speaker at a State of Downtown breakfast Tuesday.
Valley business and city leaders packed the old Security Bank building at the Fulton Mall to hear the mayor talk about plans to revitalize under performing Downtown Fresno.
The goal is to create incentives for people to want to visit Downtown, making it a place people want to eat, work and live.
She says this year fixing Fulton Mall, business development, marketing, homelessness and parking will be focused on.
"Definitely in other cities we've seen when they offer some free parking up front then it actually ends up creating more revenue in the parking garages and meters than if that incentive wasnt there. So we got to get the right balance and thats what well be bringing forward in a few months," said Mayor Ashley Swearengin.
The old security bank building has a new investor from Los Angeles.
The mayor says she thinks others will follow and also invest in the future of Downtown.
