Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Army Specialist Lukas Hopper of Merced. The 20-year-old died last week in Iraq, when his humvee rolled over.

Lukas Hopper graduated from Golden Valley High School in Merced in 2007. Shortly after, he enlisted in the army where he became a paratrooper and earned four medals, two ribbons and a badge.

Childhood friends reflected on Lukas' positive attitude and electric personality. Dana Mounce, friend of Hopper said "his energy and spirit just brought everyone together. Just made everything better and everyone happy."

Friends told us that Hopper was just 8 days away from ending his deployment in Iraq.
