Soccer fans set a new record at Chukchansi Park in Downtown Fresno Wednesday.

More than 16,000 fans filled the stands. But it wasn’t baseball that brought them there.

It was soccer. Two of Mexico’s biggest sports teams faced off.

Team Jaguares won Team America, 2-0.

Die-hard fans flew from Mexico.

“Family is here here and everything!” they yelled.

Marco Aldaz compared the teams to the Dallas Cowboys or Oakland Raiders.

Karen Asajian just returned from Europe and compard it to the Euro cup.

“The town square went wild, people were chanting,” she detailed.

Fresno PD made sure the chanting at the stadium didn’t get too wild.

The game ended with cheers, and no one got into trouble.
