Shooting investigation in Fresno

A man was shot while driving near Belmont and 2nd Street in Fresno Monday night.

The shooting happened just before 5:00 p.m.

The driver was struck once in the shoulder and is expected to recover.

Fresno police are looking for both a suspect and a motive.

Lt. Tom Rowe with the Fresno Police Department said, "The victim informed us he was driving in the area of Belmont and 2nd, when a suspect was standing on the corner and fired several rounds at him unprovoked and then fled the area on foot. Our suspect is only described as an black male, possibly with dreadlocks, last seen running from the area."

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Fresno Police Department.
