The search continues for a convicted rapist.  20-year old Spencer Scarber has now been missing for one week.  It's unknown if he's on the run or if someone kidnapped him.

Wednesday, Fresno County Sheriff's deputies and members of its swat team surrounded a home off George Smith Road in Squaw Valley to serve a search warrant.  Agents searched the property, dug through vehicles and collected evidence in hopes of finding clues as to the whereabouts of Spencer Scarber.

“Paperwork, cell phones and those types of things may lead us to the direction he might have gone,” said Fresno Co. Margaret Mims.

Investigators are open to all possibilities right now, but are following two main theories.  Either Scarber's family helped him flee, possibly to Mexico, or someone seeking justice took him during an act of violence.

Sheriff Mims is not worried because everyone in law enforcement is on the lookout for the 20-year old and they have his D.N.A. sample.

“So it's going to be very difficult in this day and time with our current technology for him to hide for any length of time.

“We strongly desire to see him return to the Fresno County Superior Court,” said Barry Pearlstein of Lucky Bail Bonds.

Barry Pearlstein helped Scarber get out jail.  Scarber's parents paid him a portion of their son's $855,000 bail and put their house up as collateral.  With Spencer missing, they could take a financial hit.

“The mom and dad stand to lose their home,” said Pearlstein.

Pearlstein will lose too because he will have to pay the state any remaining balance if Scarber is not delivered to the judge 180 days from now.

“I don't pay attention to the clock until the very end, but the reality is I have every confidence this is going to be resolved within the 180 days,” said Pearlstein.

Scarber is due to be sentenced January 15th.  He could face 70 years to life in prison.
