The Fresno Chaffee Zoo opened the new $10.5 million Sea Lion Cove animal exhibit on Monday.

The new construction was made possible by tax money raised by Measure Z, passed by Fresno voters in 2004.

The next Measure Z project, a 19 acre expansion of the zoo, is expected to begin soon. Part of the expansion will include the new 15 acre African Savanna exhibit.
