A union rally was held in Downtown Fresno on Tuesday. They’re urging lawmakers to stop cutting off home health care as a way to balance the state budget.
The Service Employees International Union is filing a lawsuit against the state and Fresno County.
The union says it wants to keep the state from making cuts to their contracts to help balance the budget.
Those reductions would slash the hours of care for seniors and reduce union wages by 30%.
Eliseo Medina with Service Employees International said, “They're talking about limiting the services to the most frail, elderly, handicapped individuals in our state and in our county.”
Union leaders tell CBS47 those cuts could force thousands out of their homes and eventually into nursing facilities.
