Valley citrus growers battled field temperatures overnight for the second night in a row.
The tipping point for citrus is around 28 degrees. If temperatures stay at the level too long, crops can be damaged.
Growers have several tricks to raise the ground temperature a few degrees like irrigating the ground, burning peach pits and running wind machines.
Orange grower Keith Nilmeier said, "I started my wind machines about 4 o'clock, between 4 and 5 and I had everything going at that time."
The freezing temperatures are also hard on pets too, so if they can't come inside, do you best to keep them warm.
Dr. Chris Dobbins from Fresno Pet ER said, "Anything to get them off the ground so they're not directly on concrete, because that's going to radiate the cold temperatures as well. If you have to, bring them into the garage. If you do, make sure that there aren't any hazards inside there: oils, antifreeze, pesticides, fertilizers, those kinds of things."
