On Saturday, Convoy of Hope held a community event to pass out more than 160,000 pounds of food. But first, organizers needed hundreds of volunteers to help them do it.Organizers feared they would not have enough help, but more than 2,000 people showed up to the Fresno Pacific Gym on Friday night to get their assignments. Convoy of Hope said the number of volunteers is a record, and hundreds of similar events have been held all over the country.
Volunteers planned to serve more than 10,000 families once the event ended on Saturday afternoon. Residents received help with whatever they needed including resume workshops and bags full of groceries.
