Pedestrian killed crossing Highway 99

An unidentified man running across Highway 99 was struck and killed Thursday night.

The accident happened around 7:45 p.m. near Clinton Avenue.

Pablo Reyna with the California Highway Patrol said, "After further investigation, we determined that the pedestrian was running westbound across the southbound lanes of State Route 99 north of Clinton Avenue, where a vehicle struck the pedestrian in the number three lane of the freeway."

It's unclear what the man was doing on the highway.

The victims name has not been released.
