An Amber Alert was called off shortly after it was issued when investigators discovered the missing Parlier teen made up the story of being kidnapped.
It happened around 9:15 p.m. Monday night when two young girls claimed they were approached by two men, near Tuolumne and Whitner in Parlier.
One of the girls claims she was kidnapped and that resulted in an Amber Alert being issued.
It turns our the girl made up the story because she didn't want to go home.
Sgt. Don Wallace with the Parlier Police Department said, "It ended up being a false report. One of the teenagers was having some personal issues and wanted to spend some time alone. Around midnight, close to one o'clock, we located her in an abandoned house. She's well, no problems, everything's good."
The girl who falsely claimed to be kidnapped could now face charges for all the time police wasted looking for her.
Sgt. Wallace said, "Charges could be filed with the DA's office for making a false police report because of all the services that were used. We discussed that with the family and we will file that with the DA's office at that time for the time served for trying to locate her."
