The City of Parlier is looking at major across-the board cuts.
The goal is to save hundreds of thousands of dollars, but it could come at a cost to public safety.
As the finance director answered tough questions from members of the community, police officers listened nervously.
“I feel that the safety of the city is going to be a concern,” Sgt. Thomas Rodriguez said.

“The crime rate is increasing due to drug activity, gang activity,” Sgt. Rodriguez said.
Last month police busted a home filled with drugs, guns...even a bullet proof vest.
Police believe the stash seized was feeding criminal activity around town.

He says this time, things are going too far.
“A lot of people have been here for a long time and they don't want to see the city suffer with lack of quality police department, so a lot of people are here to support them,” Trujillo said.
