A fire started in a downstairs apartment around 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning and quickly spread to the unit above.

The fire happened at a complex off Beck Avenue, near Clovis and Kings Canyon.

Koby Johns of the Fresno Fire Department said, "There was one civilian injury that suffered some burns to the hands. No injuries to firefighter personnel. We're thankful to the police department for assisting evacuations."

There is no word yet on the cause of the fire or the cost of the damage.
