An 18-year-old was shot in a drive-by shooting on Wednesday.

The shooting happened around 7:00 p.m. on Kings Canyon near Chestnut.

Lt. Mike Doyle with the Fresno Police Department said, "We do have witnesses that said that a smaller white Mazda had driven up to the victim and also his friend and had fired several shots at both of them."

Fresno police say the shooting is gang-related.

The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

Eastbound Kings Canyon was shut down for more than an hour after the gunfire.
