CBS47 is learning more about a double shooting that injured two women.  One was shot in the face, and her family says she's on life support.  The other was shot in the back.

Fresno police arrested two men, Tony Leon, who officers say fired the shots, and Joshua Woodworth, his accomplice.  Police say Leon has an extensive criminal background and was just arrested last week for violating parole.

It was a graphic scene Wednesday night in central Fresno where two women were shot.  Witnesses were extremely emotional as the victims were taken away by ambulance.

Outside the Community Regional Medical Center on Thursday, Primus Jones says his daughter, 18-year-old Nicole Jones, is on life support and likely won't make it.

“Today, I lost my daughter,” said Jones.

Fresno police believe 31-year-old Tony Leon is responsible and 25-year-old Joshua Woodworth helped him hide the weapon, a sawed off shotgun.  Chief Jerry Dyer says the victims were innocent.

“They had just come outside to see what was occurring outside because of the disturbance and commotion,” said dyer.

Apparently two other women were fighting.  One of them was Leon's girlfriend.  Police say he got a gun and fired into the crowd from half a block away.  It all happened on the same day law enforcement rolled out a new campaign to re-educate the public about the law: 10, 20, life.  Dyer says that law will keep Leon off the streets for good.  But a distraught father wishes for even harsher punishment.  He says a life sentence isn't enough.

“When people have to bury their own, and this man is living, this person is living, breathing.  Come on man, be real,” said Jones.

The second victim is 38-year-old Naomi Ramirez, a mother of ten.

The suspects are both gang members.
