Fire crews rescued a man who collapsed while looking for his family -- who had already escaped the burning home.

The fire was at a home on Princeton, near Palm and Shields in Fresno Thursday night.

A family of three was inside the home and the woman and her daughter got out safely, but the man did not realize it.

He continued looking for his family and was overcome by smoke and collapsed inside the home.

Fire crews were able to locate the man and got him out.

The man was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover.

It's unknown what caused the fire.
