One person is believed to be dead in the crash of a twin engine Cessna near Shaver Lake.

Witnesses heard the crash and saw a fire around 7:30 Saturday evening.

The Fresno Sheriff’s helicopter found the wreckage off Dinkey Creek Road, south of Shaver Lake.

Deputies hiked through snow to the crash site.

The plane was in route from Salinas to Nebraska. The number of people on board the plane has not been released.

Search and Rescue teams were sent to the area to look for survivors.

Deputies are expected to stay at the crash site overnight until representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board arrive on scene.
