The suspect killed has been identified as 44-year-old Samuel Gonzales.
Gonzalez reportedly stole something from a mini-mart on West Inyo Street.
Officers caught up with the suspect around the corner.
When he started to fight, police shot him.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A suspect who allegedly stole something from a mini-mart off Inyo Street was shot by a Tulare police officer Thursday night.
The suspect apparently tried to fight the officer.
The suspect's name and condition are not known at this hour.
