Valley native Marie Jones found out early Thursday she's nominated for an Emmy Award for the second year in a row. She's received a nod in the category of "Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series", for her portrayal of Coach Shannon Bieste on "Glee".
Just hours after learning of her nomination, the actress phoned in to CBS47 This Morning from her Burbank home. She says, "I still can't believe I was nominated last year, let alone for a second year in a row. I'm serious. It's overwhelming."
Jones was born in Turlock and raised in Hilmar. She attended Fresno State on a track and field scholarship, winning All-America honors in shot put and two state titles. She's also racked up 15 world arm wrestling championships.
Jones got into acting in the early 1990s, after getting discovered at a body-building tournament.
She takes pride in her Valley roots and is active in social media. She'll find out if she takes home a trophy when the awards are handed out in September. Click on the related links to learn more about Jones and the other nominees.
