After a decade of opposition, a brand new Walmart Supercenter has opened in Clovis.
The new store is part of the Clovis Crossing Regional Shopping Center at Herndon and Clovis Avenues.
A ribbon cutting ceremony took place Wednesday morning and some shoppers were in line before doors opened to be the first to see the new supercenter.
Clovis residents and city leaders hope the new Walmart helps boost the economy.
This is the second Walmart in Clovis, with the other at Shaw and Peach.
For years, some neighbors and business owners have tried to stop the new Walmart from being built because they are worried the giant retailer will hurt smaller businesses in the area.
