A 19-month-old boy is doing just fine after a scare Wednesday morning when the child nearly drowned.

The toddler wandered into a pool in North Fresno at a home daycare near Willow and International.

The little boy was unconscious when crews arrived but was taken to the hospital where he regained consciousness.

Investigators say it was an unfortunate accident. Lt. Burke Farrah said, with the Fresno Police Department said "It appears that a gardener was working in the backyard and inadvertently left the fence open to the pool. The children were playing in the backyard. There was an attendant in the yard, cleaning up some dog waste and at that point, that's when the child went into the pool."

The pool's gate normally stays closed and locked.

The child is expected to fully recover.
