Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies say a man broke into a home and tried to take the victim's 2-year-old daughter Tuesday morning.
The alleged attack happened at a home on Maple near South Avenue in Fresno County.
Sheriff's deputies say the man broke into a house through a back window.
The woman inside the home heard the noise and immediately called out to her 2-year-old daughter.
The woman says she got into a struggle with the suspect in the living room and was kicked. The suspect then grabbed the little girl and started heading for his car but the woman grabbed her shotgun and ran outside.
Fresno County Sheriff's Deputy Chris Curtice said, "Basically ordered him to drop her daughter or she would take action. He did drop the child, got into his vehicle and fled southbound on Maple."
Fortunately, no one was seriously injured. The victim says she did not know the suspect.
Deputies are trying to find the suspect and his vehicle. He is described as a white or light-skinned Hispanic wearing shorts, a camo shirt and a black ski mask. The car is a bright blue older model Honda with a rounded body style, tinted windows with a large fin or spoiler on the back.
If you have any information, you're asked to call the Fresno County Sheriff's Department.
The suspect did get away with the woman's purse.
