Merced Police are investigating a robbery of a 96-year-old woman that took place at a Wells Fargo ATM.
The robbery occurred at the Wells Fargo on W. 18th Street in Merced at 12:17PM on August 17.
Merced Police said the woman was removing her money from the ATM, when a male suspect approached her and demanded the money.
The suspect grabbed the woman and tried to remove the money, but the woman held onto the cash and the subject fled the scene after ripping the money in half.
The victim sustained minor injuries from the struggle and did not need immediate medical attention.
