The Mendota mother of a 4-year-old boy whose body was found inside a neighbor's home Saturday speaks out about her son's death.
Mindy Betancourt Mercado spoke to CBS47 On Your Side outside her home Monday afternoon. She said her son's death has devastated her entire family.
A Fresno County Sheriff's Deputy discovered Alex Mercado's body in a neighbor's clothes dryer on Saturday after a lengthy search. The 4-year-old boy was reported missing Friday afternoon.
A 14-year-old boy who lived inside the home where the body was found is now accused of killing Mercado. Autopsy results show Mercado drowned.
The Fresno County Sheriff's Office has not released a motive for the killing.
