Fresno State fans are invited to attend a public memorial for former Bulldog football coach, Jim Sweeney, on Saturday at Bulldog Stadium.

Jim Sweeney passed away Friday night at the age of 83.

Sweeney coached the Bulldog football team for 19 seasons, winning 8 conference championships, 5 bowl games, and his team was ranked in the Top 25 in seven of those seasons.

Coach Sweeney is credited for making the "Red Wave" strong and helping get Bulldog Stadium built.

Fresno State plans to have a public memorial service for Coach Sweeney Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium, on the field named after him.
