Fans on both sides of the U.S. - Mexico border are morning the death of singer, Jenni Rivera.

Rivera was one of seven people on board a small plane that crashed in Northern Mexico early Sunday morning.

The singer is from the Los Angeles area has thousands of fans here in the Central Valley and visited Fresno many times.

Fans loved Rivera for her music and they have been requesting her songs on the radio since finding out about her tragic death.

Spanish radio stations have been inundated with requests for her songs and at Fresno's Qué Onda 92.1 FM, DJs devoted an hour to her on Monday, including her latest release about how she'd like to be remembered after her death.

DJ Jose Anaya said, "She says to her friends and family she wants to be remembered, she wants a last big party at her funeral."

River did an interview just a month ago with Univision Radio in Miami, Florida. "One of the questions he asks: 'Do you fear death?' And Jenni's answer was, 'Yes, I do fear death but not for myself,' but because she fears she won't be here for her kids," said Anaya.

Rivera was a mother of five. and had just finished her first movie called "Filly Brown". Rivera plays the drug-addicted mother of an aspiring rapper. The movie was selected for this year's Sundance Film Festival and is set to be released in April.

Fans in Los Angeles lit candles for the singer and gathered at her family's home, where her brother spoke to the media. "In our eyes we still have faith my sister will be okay we ill have no confirmation of her body being recovered."

But personal items, including Rivera's drivers license were found in the wreckage.

There is still no word on the cause of the crash. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board is helping the Mexican Government investigate the crash.

According to records, the plane was well maintained and the pilots were experienced.
