Local boxer and Avenal native, Jose Ramirez, flew out of Fresno Wednesday morning to participate in the summer games in London.
Ramirez said, "I know it's going to be a n experience that I'm not going to forget, so I'm going to embrace it and experience it and do my best. It's a dream come true and I'll try to finish that dream with a nice gold medal."
Ramirez's sponsors managed to raise enough money to send his father and brother to the games but his mother will stay behind and watch him on television.
